The Chamber of Roses
The Chamber of Roses has shaped the world long enough that its presence is no longer questioned. It is assumed.
Its origins trace back to a group of conquerors operating in a distant future of an alternate universe, driven not by ideology or reform, but by a sustained vendetta against humanity itself. Their objective was absolute control. Through superior military force and advanced combat tactics, they achieved it.
That victory did not fade with time. Centuries later, the Chamber has expanded in size and influence, consolidating power rather than relinquishing it. It remains the most dominant force on the planet, controlling the majority of global wealth and resources. Authority is enforced through violence, not negotiation. Dissent is met with punishment that is both deliberate and public.
The Chamber’s control extends beyond governance. Traditional institutions that once defined civilization hold little relevance. Governments and organized religions exist at the margins, stripped of meaningful influence. There is no functioning justice system, no political structure, and no middle class to bridge the divide between power and survival.
Society has been reduced to a binary. There are those who benefit from the Chamber’s rule, and those who do not. Access to safety, technology, and stability is conditional. The Chamber decides who is permitted entry into its cities, who may live within its laws, and who is excluded entirely.
Those excluded are forced into the wastelands. These regions are the remains of cities destroyed during the Chamber’s campaign for domination. They are not accidental ruins. They are the result of deliberate eradication, left standing as evidence of what resistance costs.
Within this world, technology, science, and mysticism are not tools of progress. They are instruments of control. Efficiency outweighs morality. Advancement is measured by dominance rather than preservation. Human consequence is acknowledged only insofar as it reinforces authority.
The Chamber of Roses does not claim to be benevolent.
It does not claim to be just.
It claims permanence.
And everything else exists in response to that claim.
