Sentry City

Sentry City is the center of gravity in the world of Jericho Cutter. Everything else orbits it, reacts to it, or exists because of it.

As the capital of the Alpha Sector, Sentry City concentrates the political, military, and economic power of the Chamber of Roses into a single, fortified space. While the Alpha Region spans a large territory, Sentry City is where control is exercised directly. Decisions are made here. Enforcement originates here. Resources move through here before reaching anywhere else.

Physically, the city is sealed off from the surrounding wasteland by layers of walls and security systems. Movement in and out is tightly regulated. For those outside the Alpha Region, Sentry City is unreachable. For those inside, it is inescapable.

Life within the city is materially comfortable. Technology minimizes inconvenience. Food, shelter, and infrastructure are abundant. Even the working class lives at a level that would be considered extravagant elsewhere. That comfort, however, is conditional. Every privilege is tied to compliance. Every benefit can be revoked.

Most of the city’s population consists of Chamber members, initiates, or approved workers. Selected families are allowed to establish roots, with the expectation that future generations will serve the Chamber in return. Others are brought in on contracts that restrict communication with the outside world until their labor is complete. The city sustains itself by controlling who belongs and for how long.

Crime is rare. Not because people are better behaved, but because need has been engineered out of daily life. When violations do occur, they are handled publicly and decisively. Punishment is meant to be instructional.

Sentry City also functions as a logistical hub. Portals and underground tunnel networks connect it to other regions, forming a grid with the city at its center. Supplies, personnel, and information move efficiently through this system, allowing the Chamber to maintain influence far beyond the Alpha Sector.

Above the city, both literally and figuratively, sit the institutions that define its character. The Great Chamber, where the Elders convene, is elevated and isolated from the population below. Enforcement arms like the Dark Templars and Compliance units operate with visible authority. Their presence reinforces the understanding that order here is not negotiable.

To those in the wasteland, Sentry City represents everything they have been denied. To those inside it, the city is both sanctuary and surveillance. Comfort and control exist side by side, inseparable.

Sentry City is not just a setting. It shapes behavior. It produces loyalty, resentment, fear, and ambition in equal measure. Many of the events that define Jericho Cutter trace back to this city because it is where power is concentrated and where cracks in that power are most dangerous.

In a world divided by walls and scarcity, Sentry City stands as proof that stability can be manufactured, as long as freedom is treated as expendable.
